whenever i hear someone say that feminism is about equality i throw up a little in my mouth

what is feminism about then??? isnt the whole point to be equal to men and not be seen as less?? please explain this to me.

It’s about the liberation of women from male domination. Equality would result from that, but saying that feminism is about equality is to put the cart before the horses.

Feminism is the political movement for the liberation of women. We were warned over 100 years ago about a quest for equality. “The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges,
to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.” Anatole France,

Prostitution is rape culture. Women and girls are its victims. … The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years old. Men make money by forcing girls to provide sex to other men. The customers are rapists who pay for access to their victims.

“…The customers are rapists who pay for access to their victims.”

I think that quote just crystallises every instinctive hatred that I’ve ever felt towards Johns into one horrifying sentence.

Loving yourself is not (necessarily):

  • Thinking you’re gorgeous
  • Not wanting to change anything about your body, personality, or life

Loving yourself is:

  • Knowing you have inherent worth regardless of your physical appearance or life circumstance
  • Knowing you deserve good things
  • Wanting to take care of yourself because you deserve good things
A thought is harmless unless we believe it. It’s not our thoughts, but our attachment to our thoughts, that causes suffering. Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true, without inquiring. A belief is a thought that we’ve been attaching to, often for years.

It’s weird, like radical feminists tried to warn us about pornography back when it was mostly reserved to adult magazines and seedy movie houses. Obviously kids could still get to it, but this was before the internet. The dawn of internet porn is so much worse than anyone could’ve anticipated in the fight against pornography. Any kid with access to a phone or a computer can find hardcore porn videos in seconds, for free. I wish we’d been able to fix this problem while it was still manageable, now it feels insurmountable.

Which is why I find it funny when people say radical feminism is “outdated” and “not applicable today”. If anything it’s even more applicable now. A lot of the problems addressed by the 70’s/80’s feminists have gotten way worse.
